Finally, at long last, the control column is installed. What a bear that was! Each end is bolted through a bearing and the correct number of washers had to be arrived at through trial and error, such that lateral preload was eliminated and, after tightening, it still moves effortlessly through its entire range of motion. I sincerely hope to never have to do this task again. Argh.
